POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Vice President of Engineering (VPE) is responsible for the leadership of engineers and mid-level management of the engineering organization. You will ensure that the engineering sectors of the business are operating optimally. You will manage a strategy that directs the daily activities for all members of the engineering team to produce the initiative set forth by the leadership team. This position reports to the Chief Data & Technology Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product Delivery Strategy: Develop and implement the organization’s product delivery strategy, aligning it with the overall business goals and objectives.
  • Project Planning: Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to assure clear definition of project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams involved in the product delivery process, Including engineering, design, product management, quality assurance, and project management.
  • Agile Methodology: Champion the adoption and implementation of agile methodologies to drive efficient and iterative product delivery.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges that may impact product delivery timelines or quality, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality, bug-free products.
  • Performance Monitoring: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish metrics to monitor and evaluate the performance of the product delivery process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process optimization and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of product delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business stakeholders, including customers, to gather feedback, understand requirements, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Routinely assess and suggest changes to the organizational design of the engineering teams to best facilitate cross-functional alignment and efficient delivery of product
  • Manage relationships with key outsourced (offshore, nearshore and onshore) contract resource vendors
  • Analyzes and communicates weekly metrics, monthly results, and quarterly, annual projections
  • Develop and manage team budgets that maintain service levels and alignment with the business’ goals and objectives
  • Present achievements and status of major projects to the leadership team and board of directors on a regular basis

  • First responder mentality (calm in the face of crisis; quiet but direct communication)

LOCATION: Remote (Prefer Chicago or Cincinnati, but not required)
