POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced executive Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead global Information Technology (IT) and Information Security (InfoSec) teams.

The CIO will lead the Enterprise Technology, Data and Information Security organizations for the firm as they support the overall business and product strategy as a leading online full-service travel company. The CIO will play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing strategic, technical, and business initiatives.

You will provide strategic guidance to key areas including:

  • Enterprise Technology: Responsible for developing the day to day operations and ongoing engineering and design of the firms IT Infrastructure and Corporate Technology functions meet business needs and overseeing it’s execution, overseeing IT infrastructure, selecting and implementing technology solutions, managing relationships with key IT vendors and partners, identifying opportunities to use technology to drive innovation, process optimization and new ways of doing business, driving cloud strategy, ensuring proper business cases, resource planning and project roadmaps are developed and deployed. Oversee Database Services and Support team.

  • Developer Services: Primarily responsible for the firms DevOps, Quality Assurance and Business Process Automation functions that provide centralized services and productivity tools to the firms development community and beyond.

  • Architecture: Multidiscipline Architecture Design and Review function across Infrastructure, Security and Data, responsible maintaining the enterprise architecture standards for all architecture domains (i.e., IT, Application, Security, Data, etc), ensuring architectural compliance with defined standards and guidelines, enforcing architectural governance policies and processes, assessing the impact of architectural decisions on business outcomes, monitoring emerging technologies, addressing technology obsolescence and the impacts of outdated technology on the architecture

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and own a comprehensive Global IT strategy in partnership with senior IT leaders
  • Align business objectives and strategy through appropriate technology planning, service delivery, organizational capability building, and strategic IT cost management
  • Understand business and IT risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Work collaboratively across all the Company departments to understand business needs, scale critical technology, and manage IT costs
  • Establish and maintain win-win relationships with senior leaders across the enterprise, align departmental objectives and key performance indicators
  • Guide and advise leadership on how technology products and services can enable revenue growth and/or cost savings.
  • Lead, develop and manage a geographically dispersed IT and InfoSec team of approximately 150+ full-time employees
  • Promote a growth-oriented culture that motivates team members, develops high-quality subject matter experts and cultivates talent.
  • Monitor IT trends, innovations and best practices inside and outside of the company 

PREFERRED PROFILE:

  • Bachelor Degree or Higher in Information Technology or related fields
  • Minimum of 15 years of IT and business/industry work experience across one or more of the functional towers: IT Engineering, IT Operations, Information Management and Information Security, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing multiple, medium-to-large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role (VP, CxO) building and leading high-performing organizations with a demonstrable track record of driving innovation and increasing business value
  • Successful, recent track record of leading a global enterprise Information Technology function, demonstrating strong cultural awareness and the ability to work successfully across both organizational and geographic boundaries
  • A broad and diverse skill base including addressing organizational structure and administration practices, product and service development and maintenance procedures, software and hardware controls, security and access control management, data/network operations, environmental protection and detection, and backup and recovery procedures.
  • Experience managing complex, large-scale infrastructure and software products and services in the travel/transportation market segment with emphasis on ecommerce deployments of web and mobile properties.
  • Experienced in application development methodologies and processes (e.g.; agile); understanding of the infrastructure required to support global deployment of large-scale web and mobile properties.
  • Experienced in the operations and support of large-scale customer engagement or contact centers; familiarity with supporting technologies such as telephony systems, CRMs and other engagement tools and services.
  • Strong knowledge of information system architecture and security controls (i.e., firewall and border router configurations, operating systems configurations, wireless architectures including Wi-Fi network, server systems, databases, specialized appliances and information security policies and procedures) 
  • Establishes and maintains IT infrastructure operating models that are consistent with enterprise architecture and security policies, evaluates new tools and prototypes, and ensures integration of all applications deployed over the shared infrastructure.
  • Experience with a wide array of digital security standards/protocols, tools, and technologies. 
  • A track record of managing the delivery of complex, multi-faceted technology initiatives. 
  • Financial management skills including forecasting, budgeting and cost model development.
  • IT leadership experience in the travel industry or e-commerce
  • IT leadership designing and managing datacenter and cloud operations environments
  • Experience working with travel suppliers such as GDS (Amadeus, Sabre, Farelogix, etc.), airlines, hotels, car rental and additional ancillary product/service (e.g.; travel insurance) providers.
  • Advanced degree in an IT-related field
