POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Privacy Manager reports to Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and works at the direction of the CLO and Chief Privacy Officer. This position is responsible for ensuring that the company and its businesses are operating in compliance with all applicable state and federal privacy laws, regulations and any marketplace best practices. The individual will assist in building and maintaining a superior privacy program and privacy policies, and guiding the businesses to create compliant products and services.
The Senior Privacy Manager engages with vendors and service providers to ensure they have compliant privacy programs. The role involves working alongside the legal information security, training and compliance departments as well as Product and Sales to ensure compliance of all cross-business unit efforts/innovations. The Senior Privacy Manager would primarily be involved in the day-to-day management of privacy risk assessments and vendor engagements and manage data and system inventory of personal information in compliance with FTC Safeguards Rule.
The ideal candidate is results-oriented, comfortable and effective at working with Executives across the business that looks at challenges with a creative mind-set and has a track record of accomplishing objectives across different regulated businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create, maintain, and communicate compliance standards, policies, and procedures and ensure that this information is disseminated, understood, and implemented across the businesses.
- Assist in maintaining systems and data inventories.
- Assist in third party privacy risk reviews.
- Support customer and vendor discussions and negotiations regarding privacy issues and the company’s privacy policies and procedures, as required.
- Coordinate the completion of privacy impact assessments.
- Assist in defining and delivering privacy education and awareness programs to internal teams.
- Serve as the point of contact for privacy-related questions from internal sources, including sales and product teams, and from external sources, including customers.
- Define and implement a risk-based approach to identifying, monitoring, measuring, and reporting various types of privacy issues.
- Stay informed about privacy-related developments that impact the businesses.
PREFERRED PROFILE:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 4-7 years of practical privacy, compliance, and/or risk management experience.
- International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state privacy-related laws and regulations (e.g., GLBA, FCRA, and CCPA), regulatory environment (e.g., FTC and CFPB), and industry guided marketplace best practices.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proven experience conducting risk assessments.
- Solid understanding of assessing and designing internal controls in an enterprise-level environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) or CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) certification
- Experience with OneTrust Cookie Management and Data Inventory Tools
